Myanmar is the largest country in Southeast Asia and shares borders with six nations. Political crisis coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic, has had catastrophic economic effects for Myanmar’s people.
The country has one of the highest rates of human trafficking in the world, and yet there are few services for victims.
Hagar has worked in Myanmar since 2014, building the capacity of local organizations to help survivors of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse to heal and rebuild their lives.
YKWBA, Hagar’s partner organization in Myanmar empowered 270 community members in 2023 to eliminate gender-based violence. People of all ages joined the awareness-raising workshops in two communities. Workshop leaders helped attendees know the signs and types of violence and how to keep their communities safe.
By partnering with Hagar, you help survivors heal from trauma and severe abuse. Our work depends on the generosity of people like you.
