Afghanistan Earthquake Emergency: Survivors Need You Now

More than 2,000 lives lost.

Thousands are injured. Families trapped in rubble.

On August 31, 2025, a magnitude-6.0 earthquake struck near Jalalabad in eastern Afghanistan. Homes have collapsed, roads are blocked, and survivors are left without food, shelter, or hope. Children and families are digging through rubble with their bare hands.

Afghanistan is already in crisis. This earthquake has created a “perfect storm” of suffering.

This is where you can make a difference.

Your gift today ensures survivors receive immediate relief and long-term protection.

Why Hagar

Hagar has been on the ground in Afghanistan for years. Our staff are safe, but shaken, and already working side by side with community leaders and the national emergency response.

We know that when crisis strikes, trauma takes may forms:

  • Physical Injuries and urgent needs like food, shelter and clothing
  • Emotional Scars of fear, grief, and loss that last long after the ground stops shaking
  • Increased Risk of exploitation and abuse in the chaos of disaster

Right now, Hagar’s team in Kabul is mobilizing to:

  • Provide food, blankets, tents, and hygiene kits to families who have lost everything.
  • Mobilize women in our programs to sew urgently needed clothing and blankets.
  • Offer trauma counselling and safe spaces for children and families.
  • Set up community-based protection groups to prevent exploitation and abuse.
  • Walk with survivors for the long road of recovery.

Every Hour Matters

The earthquake struck without warning and the aftershocks are still coming. But you can send an immediate response of safety, dignity, and hope, and let Afghan families know they are not forgotten.

I felt powerless and without hope. The challenges I faced seemed insurmountable. But thanks to Hagar, I've grown into someone I barely recognize from my past self. I've learned resilience, developed a sense of self-worth, and gained the skills to support myself and my family.
