Hagar International Welcomes New Board Chair, Peter Snowsill

Hagar is delighted to announce that the Hagar International Board has appointed Peter Snowsill as its new Chair.

Peter brings extensive leadership, governance, and technical experience spanning more than three decades across international aid, engineering, and technology. He has served in a range of non-executive and governance roles, including Chair, Deputy Chair, and Audit and Risk Committee Chair, with organisations such as Tearfund Australia and engineering joint ventures across the Asia-Pacific region.

A qualified Chemical Engineer, Peter’s career has taken him across Australia, the Americas, and Asia, working with both the private and not-for-profit sectors. His expertise combines strong commercial and technical understanding with a deep commitment to ethical leadership and people development.

Peter’s governance experience in international aid delivery has given him an appreciation for the complexities of cross-cultural work and the importance of sound compliance and accountability structures. His leadership style is marked by integrity, clear communication, and emotional intelligence – qualities that have earned him the respect of peers and colleagues alike.

Peter joins Hagar International at an exciting time. As we step into a new season of collaboration and innovation, his leadership will help guide our global federation to strengthen partnerships, deepen impact, and continue transforming the lives of those recovering from trauma and exploitation.

Reflecting on his appointment, Peter shared:

“Hagar’s work to restore the lives of survivors of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse is deeply inspiring. I’m honoured to contribute to this mission and support the organisation as it continues to grow its global reach and impact.”

Hagar International’s CEO, Jules Frost, also expressed her enthusiasm:

“We are thrilled to welcome Peter as our new Board Chair. His breadth of experience across international development and corporate governance will be invaluable as Hagar advances into its next phase of growth. His passion for people and commitment to excellence align beautifully with Hagar’s mission and values.”

Hagar International also extends sincere thanks to Phil Badger for his dedicated leadership as outgoing Chair. We are pleased that Phil will continue to serve on the Hagar International Board as the New Zealand Representative, bringing his wisdom and experience to support this next chapter.

We look forward to working with Peter and the Board as we continue to pursue our vision of communities free and healed from the trauma of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse.
