Our Work in Solomon Islands

Survivor Care

Expanding services for victims of human trafficking, slavery, and abuse in high-risk areas through capacity building of local NGO HOPE Trust.
Training national case workers and counselors to deliver Trauma-Informed Care to survivors.

Prevention

Increasing community awareness of the harms and dangers of human trafficking.
Training local leaders in high-risk areas to know the signs of human trafficking and keep their communities safe.

Systemic Change

Collaboration with schools and churches to ensure community-based care networks and safety nets are operating effectively.
Supporting survivors as they reintegrate into their communities and embark on positive, productive futures.

Equipped to Help Survivors Heal

Now that she’s been trained in Hagar’s Trauma Informed Care, Kerin, a counselor with HOPE Trust in the Solomon Islands, feels capable of supporting her clients better.

“I just listen as I had been taught in the Hagar training,” she says. “It’s all about the survivor feeling safe enough to release and breathe in the space provided. I’m passionate and honored to support the young girls in my country and help protect them from all forms of exploitation and abuse.”
