Hagar International’s CEO, Andrew, and Hagar NZ’s new ED, Kate, visited HOPE Trust between April 17th and 23rd. The HOPE Trust team called this “a major boost” for themselves as well as for the Koleasi community, whom they visited. Koleasi welcomed Kate and Andrew and shared stories with them. They provided positive feedback to HOPE Trust after the visit. HOPE Trust deems it important that Andrew and Kate were able to glimpse on-the-ground impressions of the difficulties the team has to work around, e.g., the remoteness of the communities, road and access conditions, and communication difficulties.

Kate expressed that the visit was one of the most fulfilling experiences of her life since this was only her 2nd country in the Pacific to visit.

The visit was also helpful for HOPE Trust as it came at the end of multiple recruitment processes, which involved lots of reorganising of the team. HOPE Trust reports that Kate and Andrew’s presence and affirmation really boosted team morale. The opportunity to ask lots of questions in person and discuss them was much appreciated. The trip, while short, was deemed a very productive one.
