Awards and Recognition
Founder of Hagar International, Pierre Tami has received numerous awards and recognitions for his long-term commitment to the rehabilitation of trafficked and abused women. Hagar’s creative and innovative social enterprises have also been recognized as a leading best practice for successfully providing former victims access to financially sustainable opportunities and reducing the risk of further abuse and exploitation.
2006 - Brandenberger Award
Pierre Tami and his wife Simonetta were recognized for their efforts and creative entrepreneurship for women and children at risk by the Brandenberger Foundation, a renowned Swiss foundation which honours individuals who have done great service for the welfare of mankind

2005 - Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship - Outstanding Social Entrepreneurs.
Mr. Pierre Tami was selected as of the world’s most “Outstanding Social Entrepreneurs” by the Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship. The Schwab Foundation for Social Entrepreneurship identifies, selects and provides recognition for outstanding social entrepreneurs around the world whose work has significantly improved people’s lives, building a strong fellowship among them.

2004 - US Department of State Presentation on The Trafficking in Persons Report (TIP) Report - Heroes Acting To End Modern Day Slavery and Trafficking.

Mr. Pierre Tami was honored amongst six heroes recognized for their fight and courage against human trafficking, at a ceremony hosted in Washington, DC by the US Secretary of State, Colin L. Powell and the Director of the Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons, US Department if State, John R. Miller.

2003 -The Royal Government of Cambodia - Medal of Honor, Officer of the Royal Order of Sahametrei.

Mr. Pierre Tami was granted the Medal of Honor, Royal Order of Sahametrei by His Majesty King Norodom Sihanouk of Cambodia. The Royal Order of Sahametrei is the highest award in The Kingdom of Cambodia and is a title conferred primarily on foreigners who have rendered distinguished services to the King and to the Nation

2003-1998-1995 - Gold Medal of National Construction.

Mr. Pierre Tami was granted on three different occasions, Gold Medals for National Reconstruction by Samdech Akkak Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of Cambodia. The Gold Medal for National Reconstruction demonstrates that The Royal Government of Cambodia recognizes the contribution of civil society organizations such as Hagar for its work and effort to reconstruct post-war Cambodia.

2001-2006 - Swiss Federal Council - Honorary Consul General of Switzerland to the Kingdom of Cambodia.
Mr. Pierre Tami was nominated as Honorary Swiss Consul to Cambodia by The President of Switzerland through the Swiss Federal Council.

Mr. Pierre Tami was recognized by the Ministry of Social Affairs, Labour, Vocational Training and Youth Rehabilitation for the active participation of Hagar in the reduction of poverty of Cambodian people
