Approach

STAGE 1: RECOVERY AND CAREER PATH DEVELOPMENT STAGE 2: COMMUNITY REINTEGRATION STAGE 3: JOB PLACEMENT AND COMMUNITY-BASED CARE
Shelter-Based Care, Job Readiness, and Partner Capacity Building Group Homes Employment and Community-Based Care

Stage 1: Shelter-Based Care, Job Readiness, and Partner Capacity Building
Primary care for involved clients will be assumed by partner NGOs. During this stage, Hagar will support these partners by providing a technical assistance and training program for the involved social workers. During this stage, Hagar will also develop a comprehensive job readiness program for beneficiaries selected for future employment in a Hagar Social Enterprise. The job readiness program includes vocational training and soft skills development.

Stage 2: Reintegration
At the end of the job readiness program, if the beneficiary is assessed to be ready for employment and transition to independent living, Hagar will facilitate the transition from life in the shelter to life in the community. With support from partner NGOs, Hagar will establish group homes as transitional community-based housing for the involved beneficiaries with partially subsidized expenses for the first few months. At the same time as the beneficiaries’ transition from the shelter to a group home, the beneficiaries will also commence employment within a Hagar social enterprise.

Stage 3: Employment and Community-Based Care
Once the beneficiary is employed within Hagar’s social enterprise, Hagar social workers will provide long-term social work services to these clients on a community-based level. Within an Employee Assistance Program (EAP) in Hagar’s social enterprise, the beneficiary employees will continue to have access to the same social work services as they received in the shelter.
